Success stories

Below you will see some amazing stories. Ragdoll Rescue are a very close team. We work so hard to help every single cat we are asked to help/
We have had some very sad cases that have turned into joy for the cats. We are very proud of the forever life we can help give these cats.

Sadie who is now 19

Sadie

Having spent some time deciding to adopt a rescue Ragdoll, the most helpful website I found was Ragdoll Rescue. I had a chat with Dawn about the pros and cons and set about finding my new feline friend. There was something about the photo of Sadie and her story which captured my heart & I knew I wanted to give her the loving home she deserved after the hardship she had suffered. As she was a lady of mature years (16), I had a good chat with Roger about her health and needs before arranging to come and see her. When I arrived to meet Sadie, it was clear that all the cats in the care of the rescue home were in excellent purpose built accommodation and indeed loved and very well cared for. Sadie was in a wonderful private wing with ensuite facilities, heating and personal entertainment! She was lounging in the sun on her comfy bed and I fell in love with her instantly. Roger and Lesley were immensely helpful giving me lots of tips and information about her needs and personality.

After an initial settling in period at home and getting to know each other, I can honestly say that Sadie has brought such love and pleasure into my home. Due to her previous neglect, she does not like to be brushed, but we have come to an understanding! She may swear a little but we have a good routine that keeps her fur just about tangle free and my ears are spared too much bad language! She is a wonderful charactered old lady and is really enjoying retirement with many choices of bed around the house to choose from! She is now 19 years old, has a little arthritis in her back leg and has developed hyperthyroidism which we manage very successfully with the help of our local vet. She continues to enjoy life and is a huge part of my family. It has been such a rewarding experience to take on a golden oldie who probably was the last choice for many due to her age. It has been very special to gain her trust and see that she knows how much she is loved. I am so grateful to Ragdoll Rescue for saving Sadie, bringing her back to health and giving me the chance to give her the forever home she deserves. I absolutely love her to bits and cannot imagine life without her.

2018 Big rescue

August 2018 was a very difficult weekend for the team. We were contacted by someone who had a large number of cats. Due to legal reasons we are unable to give full circumstances. Kayley travelled down to collect the cats from London. There were 9 Ragdolls including kittens and another breed. The kittens were around 2-3 weeks of age. Covered in their own waste and flea dirt, their eyes were stuck together, ear mites and generally very unwell. Sadly one did not survive. There was a pregnant girl. An entire boy who it was later found had Tritrichomonas foetus, which is stomach parasites. These cats were in terrible condition. The saturday morning all cats were taken to the vets, treated as much as they could be at that time. Roger and Lesley then took the kittens home, where they were bathed. Lots of time, dedication and pure devotion were put in to all these cats. Kayley had three girls and her mom took in the pregnant cat. Sadly the three kittens she went on to deliver all had very extreme cleft pallet and had to be put to sleep. The toll this took on the whole team is indescribable

Big rescue continued

However, after 5 months, all of these cats had been neutered, vaccinated, well fed and were totally unrecognisable from the year before. They are all now in new homes. This cost the rescue £5000.00. Above is a photo of one of the kittens when they first arrived and now. Working together made the world of difference

Flo

Flo came to us with a severely infected eye. Sadly her vet treatment had become none affordable. She was taken in by Dawn and immediately taken to her amazing vet. Flo had an operation to remove the eye. After a few weeks being pampered at Dawns and a full recovery, she was able to find her forever home. Her Daddy adores her. She is one very spoilt princess.
