Buying a kitten & prices

Hi all
During the recent pandemic, we have seen prices for kittens registered and unregistered go through the roof. We feel this is really taking advantage of the current situation.
A lot of registered breeders put their absolute all into their babies. A £950.00 kitten is no less quality than those being advertised for £1200.00-£1500.00. You are not getting any more for your money. Champion etc bloodlines, only mean that those cats are shown, not that they are better quality or have anything different. All breeders should be breeding to the standard of points for their registry. Not all cats can be shown or want to be shown, this does not make their kittens any less quality.
Your kitten should come with
Minimum 3 generation pedigree showing all registration and breed numbers.
Registration card
Full vaccine course
Some breeders microchip
some breeders early neuter
You should see proof parents are clear of HCM.
London area, yes the prices may be higher as their vet costs are higher.
People may think that because someone is charging £800 for a kitten that they are a lot less quality than one they have seen for £1400, absolutely not true and actually the lowest price kittens are possibly from breeders who only have one litter a year and put their life into that one litter, as opposed to someone who has 10-11 litters a year and charges £1400 for them.
We have also seen some back yard breeders elevate their prices to £900, the baby is usually not registered, no paperwork and parents are not health tested.
Please choose wisely, build a relationship with your breeder, get to know who they are, ask to visit (without seeing babies). Go and have a cuppa with them, see their cats in their home environment, see where your potential baby will be raised and the relationship between the cats and breeder. Are they kept indoors.
Ask lots of questions. If your not happy and it does not feel right walk away.
